Owner: Dick German
64 y.o. Retired Rural Mail Carrier
The owner and builder of the sidecar
Rider: Ray German
41 y.o. Respiratory Therapist and Paramedic, have worked as a Paramedic
for 15 years and currently the Director of Respiratory Services for the
past 7 years.
Riding experience: Dick 50+ years, Ray 35+ years this is racing, street,
dirt etc.
Bike:
2001 Blast, Color: Yellow, Mods: Nallinized 2X head work, Bored to 497cc,
Axtell work on "Squish Band", Red Shift 567 cams, Screaming
Eagle ignition, Custom straight exhaust, And many more, too numerous to
list.
Sidecar: Mostly aluminum, based off 10" aluminum "Cushman"
wheel and hub, 1" Sprint Car radius rods with 5/8" Heim joints,
to finish the platform a framework of 3/4" X 1" rectangular
aluminum tubing covered with 0.030" and 0.060" sheeting. The
third mount consists of a 3/4" steel sprint car tie rod with 1/2"
heim joints.
The challenge in development was coming up with mounts that were strong
enough as there is no frame under the engine on the Blast. These mounts
are constructed from aluminum and all mounted directly to the frame.
The effort is 90% finished and soon will be ready to go. Recently, first
week of August, the bike and sidecar were married at the Belleville Midget
Nationals and the results were very promising. A few minor adjustments
and modifications are all that are required at this point. The
effort is looking not only good but very promising for most likely 2 LSR
records.
I would like to thank Aaron Wilson, Brian Nallin (Nallin Racing Heads)
and Joe George ( Axtell) for the advise and help thus far in this effort.
The list of people that require my gratitude grows every day.
