Licensing Runs
by Henrik, 09.20.2000

We're all rookies, so we have to go through the formalities of tech, check and certification; Since Richard Nallin hasn't run Land Speed before our first run of the day was a certification run. Orders were to keep the speed from Mile 2 to Mile 3 between 125 and 150 MPH.

As you'll see in the Starting Line gallery, we got the bike loaded and lined up with the rest of the Teams here at Bonneville. Hot here - "only" about 80 degrees, but the sun really does a number on you, especially if you like Richard is wearing full leathers.

It's one of those "hurry up and wait" things. We were waiting all morning, and then all of a sudden Richard is out there with the bike roaring - heard clearly all over the pits.

Everyone is holding their breath waiting for the official time .... 144.270 MPH
Richard later told, that after hitting 4th gear, he had to roll off the throttle not to exceed the 150 MPH limit for this first run.
